About Chief Daniel McMahon
Chief Daniel M. McMahon was promoted to the position of
Chief of Police on April 5, 2005. Chief McMahon has served with
the Yorktown Police Department for 24 years.
Prior to his promotion to Chief of
Police, he served as Lieutenant - Operations Officer for the
Department, responsible for the department training,
inspections, evaluations, personnel management and for the
Chief's duties in his absence.
Chief McMahon previously served as
Lieutenant - Patrol Division Commander
wherein he was responsible
for the supervision of five patrol squads, the traffic unit, the
detective unit and the juvenile unit. From 2002 to 2004, he
served as Lieutenant - Staff Division Commander were he was
responsible for the supervision of the Communications Unit, the
maintenance of the Department's communication equipment, mobile
data terminals and computers, along with the Records Unit as
well as the Community Service/Animal Warden.
Daniel McMahon began his law enforcement career in 1973 with the
Port Authority Police Department working at the Port Authority
Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan. In 1981 he transferred to
the Yorktown Police Department as a police officer wherein he
performed patrol duties. In 1986, Chief McMahon was promoted to
Sergeant supervising patrol squads before becoming the Staff
Sergeant in 1992.
Daniel McMahon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal
Justice from the City University of New York, John Jay
College, and an Associates Degree in Police Science from the
State University of New York at Farmingdale.

About Lieutenant Kevin Soravilla
Lieutenant Kevin J. Soravilla was hired by the Yorktown
Police Department in 1980 and assigned to the Patrol Division.
He became an accident investigator in 1986 and is assigned to
the accident investigation unit.
In 1991 he was promoted to the
rank of Sergeant and was assigned as a patrol supervisor.
He was previously a supervisor for the department's Emergency
Service Unit (ESU). He promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in
April of 2007 overseeing the Department's staff division.
