The position of Police Officer is considered to be a
Public Officer and must meet all applicable provisions
of the New York State Public Officers Law. Standards
for Police Officer are established in accordance with
Section 58 of the New York State Civil Service Law and
the New York State Public Officers Law.

In
addition to the above, there are minimum qualifications
that must be met which will be listed on the exam
announcement, and candidates who pass the written exam
will be required to pass medical and physical agility
standards set by the Municipal Police Training Council
in order to achieve a permanent appointment as a Police
Officer. The official announcement for Police Officer

examination and appointment process.
Westchester
County
holds
the civil service examination for Police Officer and
Police Officer (Spanish Speaking), to fill vacancies for
positions in the Westchester County Department of Public
Safety Services and the police departments of the Cities
of Peekskill and
Rye
and
the towns and villages in
Westchester
County,
every
four years. The next exam will be held in 2012. |
